President Bakrow welcomes Presidential candidate Ted Kennedy and his mother, Rose.
Senator Edward Kennedy visited St. Ambrose on November 12, 1979 as he began
his campaign tour through Iowa.
Senator Kennedy who was accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Rose Kennedy; his
sister, Mrs. Eunice Shriver; his son, Edward Kennedy, Jr. and his niece, Christina Lawford
were welcomed to St. Ambrose by President Bakrow and welcomed to Davenport
and the Quad Cities by Mayor Charles Wright.
Following his speech in South Hall the Senator made a brief appearance outside to
greet some students and then returned inside for a press conference.
About two hours after his arrival Senator Kennedy and his party waved to the
crowd and headed for another stop on his campaign tour through Iowa
