Description
Here are the men who carried the burden for the Bees. From left to right, gathered around coach Duax, they are:
WILLY MALATESTINIC, hustling senior from East Chicago, Indiana. Willy could always be counted on for a
good performance on the boards, and his defensive work helped make the press more effective.
JIM "JUMPER" PAY, four year regular from De Paul Academy, Chicago. With the natural attributes of size,
speed and fine jumping ability, Jim combined real team spirit and competitive will to win. Although known
mostly for his scoring, Jim was outstanding in all departments of play. To try to sum up what he has been to St
Ambrose basketball the past four years in a few words is impossible.
RICH BRENNAN, freshman from St. Rita, Chicago. Highly touted at the start of the year, Rich moved into the
starting lineup in mid-year and more than held his own. A superb rebounder, he also has an accurate jump shot.
BILL DART, senior from Mount Carmel, Chicago. Never has the term "playmaker" been more suitably applied
than when used to describe Bill. To tabulate bis assists over the past few seasons would require full crew, of
"math" majors. Bill, hustling and always smart, will long be remembered for his shortstop-like pass interceptions,
the payoff on the Bees' press.
JIM WOLF, senior from St. Paul of O'Dell, Illinois. Jim's consistency in rebounding and scoring was ever a
steadying influence on the team. His cool head made him play his best in clutch situations. Finding Jim's peer
in team spirit and true sportsmanship would be surely difficult, if possible at all. ■
