Family Life

The Family Life Commission started the year at a
fast pace. Again this year they organized dancing
classes at Marycrest and, with Mercy girls, sponsored
more small "get acquainted" parties. The commission
worked hard also in getting together the "Showboat"
at the county fair.
During Homecoming weekend they sponsored the
Living Rosary, and on January 9th, the feast of the
Holy Family, they undertook the project of getting
students to enroll with their families in the "Family
Communion Crusade".
More in the intellectual vein, Family Life took up
the problem of young children and so-called comic
books. They developed it into a discussion panel and
then visited the different parish PTA groups in the
Quad-City area. In connection with this panel a canvass was made of Davenport to see what stores were
selling the objectionable books.
This year Family Life at Ambrose and Marycrest
sponsored panel discussions on topics connected with
dating, engagement, marriage and the family.
