3. "Fat" gives a speech in the refectory, ably explained by enthusiastic gestures.
We don't know whether he won his point or not but we'll gamble that he could
give any jury plenty to think about.
4. Arpas meeting. All the freshmen arrive padded to the teeth. However, it was
just an "informal" gathering-no casualties.
5. "World's Serious" in full swing. Some make wise bets, others don't.
6.Some more "World's Series". Gamblers busy and doing quite a rushing busi
ness. Some learn the value of money, "by experience."
7. Rather cold. Morgan Maloney smokes his first pipe with disastrous results. He
still asserts that the tobacco was doped. Those who know the experience of
tobacco at St. Ambrose will scarcely credit this bit of humor.
8.McDonough gets brain fag trying to keep track of the Junior-Corpus Christi
score. Others in the same predicament.
