14. College men take their first night off. However, the gods were kind and nearly
all managed to get in alive. It is rumored that some of the younger generation
spent a portion of the evening at the Chiro school, getting their schedules adjusted.
15. Ed Walker sends form letters to all his old pals at home. It's all right providing
the young la— excuse me, young lads don't compare letters.
16. First choir practice. We lock all the doors in case some of the new students are
sensitive to the "cold". (A poor excuse is better than none.)
17. First call for Varsity and Junior football candidates. Fr. Lawler, as purveyor
of "Sloan's Liniment", does a rushing business in the evening.
Dr. C.E. Glynn
Surgeon
601-3 Kahl Building
Davenport, Iowa
Dr. Ed. H. Carroll
Dentist
600 Kahl BLDG.
Telephone Dav. 6166
Davanport, Iowa
18. Many conspicuous by their absence at breakfast. Baseball game in the afternoon.
"Louise" Nieters seemed to be more than interested in the crowd.
19. John and Frank Collins announce to the world that they have opened a first
class blacksmith shop in the west corner of the gym. Those desiring fresh candy
will also be accommodated.
20. Arpas Initiation. Three of the candidates refuse to take the royal oath. The
same three men inhabit the infirmary for the next three days. That's the stuff.
"Treat 'em, rough."
21. K. E. Club starts newspaper. After one publication the paper dies for lack of
nourishment and "news". What's the use, the Rock Island News supplies the
Tri Cities.
