Description

The Ambrosian
An Accomplishment
Father (to son returned home from college) : Son, what was the hardest thing
you learned to do at college?
G. McCabe: How to open beer bottles
with half a dollar.
In the Refectory
Waiter: Will you have pie?
Student: Is it compulsory?
Waiter: Huh?
Student: I say, is it compulsory?
Waiter: Why—ah—we're just out of
compulsory, but we've got some good rasp-
berrv.
Garvey: Do you think the colleges turn out the best men ?
Clancy: Well, they turned me out my first year.
F. McCabe: Say, Pa, this book says "the royal coffers were empty." What is a
royal coffer, Pa?
His Father: A king with consumption, son.
Fitzpatrick (with newspaper) : It says here that Mrs. Vanderbilt wore some lace
at the ball last night that was 200 years old.
Heffron: Two hundred years old! Think of it now, an' them with all that money!
When a woman never finds fault with her husband, never asks him for money,
never nags at him, never asks him to stop smoking in the parlor, never rags him about
those occasional penny ante games, she's a widow.
Arguing About Secrets
McDonough: At college I tell my roommate all I know7.
She: How delightfully quiet you must be at college!
Genster: Say, Jake, what would you say if I flunked four subjects?
Jake: Get out; you're fooling!
Genster: That's just what the Dean said.
