JUMP HURDLES.
Last spring St. Ambrose College
closed the books on its most successful track season in history.
Coach Roy Owen's team won six
out of seven dual or triangular meets
and tacked up nine new school
records in the process.
McClimon, who has made a habit
of setting records over the past
three seasons, was again the big
leader for the Bees. His 48.1 second
time in the quarter in the NCAA
Regional put a new record on the
St. Ambrose books. He also had a
part in six other records. Another
record was established by Curt
Johnson who ran a 1:59.2 half mile.
Sophomore Doug Cornick accounted for the only change in
the field event record listings with
his 12-5% pole vault while Bob
Zeimet closed out his career with
a record-breaking 10:09.7 two mile
effort. Tommy Seitz and Bill Fulton
were record sharers in three relay
races while Thiessen and Joe Cervantes had a part in two of them.
The near-perfect season gave Coach
Owen quite a year.
Dan McClimon, who made a habit of resetting SAC track records, is about to
set another in the 440 yard dash.
