Description
"To become more knowledgeable of basic Republican principles through study and practice,
in order to become active constructively and articulately to preserve and strengthen our Christian
and American way of life" is the purpose of the
St. Ambrose College Young Republicans. This
year the organization was instrumental in forming
a club at Marycrest College and they were host
of the Regional III worshop, November 2. They
also took part in the First Mock Presidential Convention and the Young Republican Convention
held in Sioux City, Iowa, and they attended the
Lincoln Day fund raising banquet in Des Moines
on February 12. Speakers this year were the
following: Gordon Barnes, Scott County Young
Republican Chairman; Senator Jack Miller; Congressman Fred Schwengel; Attorney-General Evan
Hultman; Mr. Roger Jepsen, Scott County Board
of Supervisors; and Mr. Charles Wittenmeyer, National Committee from Iowa. Other social activities for the year included dances, a Homecoming
float, a car wash in the spring, and attendance at
the Midwest Young Republican Convention in
Chicago.
