STUDENT COUNCIL . . . Guides Campus Activities
In Student Council activities this
year the word seemed to be representation as the twenty member student government body included students of all political, academic and
extra-curricular persuasions.
Perhaps the most notable achievement of this year's Council was the
long to be remembered Homecoming
weekend. Attempting to do something "new and different" to stem the
gradual decline in spirit caused by
the demise of football, the Council
scheduled a parade through downtown Davenport as the chief item
on the Homecoming agenda.
In addition to several Council-
built floats, the parade included student marchers representing many
campus clubs and organizations as
well as representatives of the local
chamber of commerce, the alumni association, and the college administration.
The quality of Ambrose social activities also came under the scrutiny of the 1963-64 Student Council.
After failing attempts early in the
year to elimate the social Calendar,
the Council members and club presidents from Ambrose met with Mary-
crest leaders to draw up a set of rules
to govern an improved social calendar. Some of the new provisions
to take effect next fall, include rating of social events and provisions
for open weekends when any club
may sponsor an activity.
