Description

"Friends" Give Financial Support The Chairman of the 1963 Friends of St. Ambrose Campaign was Mr. Walter F. Meiburg, President of Northwest Bank and Trust Company, Davenport. Mr. Meiburg, a life-long resident of Davenport, is one of the early leaders in the Friends Campaign and has just recently received the Honorary Alumnus Award for years of untiring interest in the problems and needs of the College. The "Friends of St. Ambrose" are the many local and distant individuals, businesses, and industries that are vitally interested in the future of the College and realize the importance of having this accredited liberal arts school in the community. Their investments, since 1952 of over $220,000 are proof of this. Also included in the Friends are the many firms which have "matching gift" programs. These programs are designed to assist colleges and universities in a financial way and to provide added incentive to their employees who contribute to their Alma Mater's Alumni Funds. St. Ambrose College, like many, many other colleges, owes a great deal to its Friends. There are scores and scores of men who originally had no ties with St. Ambrose, but now through their generosity and cooperation, their time and efforts, their advice and counselling, they have become closely allied with the College. For this St. Ambrose is most grateful. ANONYMOUS, Davenport PHILIP D. ADLER, Davenport AETNA LIFE AFFILIATED COMPANIES, Hartford, Conn. ALCOA FOUNDATION, Pittsburgh, Pa.
