Description
I THE AMBROSIAfT
Just a Pageful
Now, folks, you have the editor's word
of honor as a gentleman that there is
nothing intrinsically funny about this
squib of Brother Lucier's.
We publish it merely to demonstrate
how cleverly the author handles his characters and plot. When he succeeds in obtaining a page of spasms out of the young
lady he puts her to sleep in the last line.
Dropping listlessly into the large Morris chair beside her, she placed her face in
her hands and sighed. Her breath came
in short pants as she ran her pink fingers
with their well polished nails through her
beautiful golden hair, bobbed just above
her shoulders. She sat up straight in the
chair and looking off into space tried to
piece together the incidents that had happened so rapidly within the last hour. But
try as she might she could not concentrate.
Her mind was in a turmoil. Why did she
do it ? What should she do ? Should she
return and face the worst? No! She
would not. But where could she go?
These and many other questions occupied
her troubled brain. She suddenly broke
off into sobs and fell off in a troubled
sleep.
