Description
ODE TO THE PEST HOUSE
In my little grey house called the pest,
I languished for days, not of rest;
For the nurse, all in white,
Was the best thing in sight;
But the house—Oh, my brain !—was a jest.
Rats and mice galloped 'round—hordes galore!
I could hear them always 'neath the floor.
Oh, the chairs needed glue;
And the bathtub leaked through
On the floor of that pest house, the bore!
I took pills at my nurse's request.
I took laxatives, too, as a "test".
But this one exam
I passed with a slam,
In my little grey house called the pest.
