Returning home, the Ambrosians lost a rough game to Glenn Devine's Parsons College quint by the score of 28 to 20. A trip to Des Moines resulted disastrously, as the
Des Moines Still College five took the Saints into camp by a 19 to 6 score. The
speedy Victor Independents carved their names in the hall of fame by taking the local
collegians down the line by the score of 24 to 12.
Playing a return game with the Des Moines Still crew on the local floor, the Ambrosians again bit the dust 26 to 15.
The heavy line plunging tactics of the heavy Parsons College quint played havoc
with the light Saint crew and they lost by the score of 22 to 11.
Defeat number ten came in the hands of the Iowa Wesleyan five at Mt. Pleasant,
the Blue and White bowing to the small town school by the score of 26 to 13.
The season came to a close in the LeClaire gym with the powerful St. Louis University romping off with a 25 to 14 victory. The local Saints played the visiting Saints
to a standstill during the first half, but the long range shooting of the visitors during
the closing stages of the game proved to be the undoing of the Ambrosians.
All told, the Varsity lost eleven out of twelve games. But why cry over spilt milk?
They did their best and what more can be asked of any team ? Old Man Gloom seems
to have hit the Saints camp this year and could not he driven out. The majority of
the games were played away from home on small floors against much heavier teams;
and these things, along with injuries, greatly handicapped the Saints.
