The Student Council
The members of the 1952-53 Saint Ambrose
Student Council may well look with pride upon
their accomplishments of the past year. Even before the school year started the Student Council
had worked hard to plan a most progressive freshman orientation program.
In addition to arranging this year's homecoming,
which was judged successful in every respect, the
Council planned numerous other activities during
the year.
In the spring the Student Council took the
initiative in sponsoring the Student Body Chapel
Fund Drive as a concrete demonstration of the
Council's willingness to aid the progress and development of Saint Ambrose College.
Two important additions were made to the Student Council this year. The first was the addition,
by constitutional amendment, of a representative
of the Saint Ambrose College Division of Nursing
to the membership of the Council. The second improvement, granted through the graciousness of
the Saint Ambrose Administration, was the use of
a room in the basement of Davis Hall as a permanent office for the Student Council.
The Student Council was fortunate this year in
having Lloyd Considine as its progressive and enlightened President. The other Council offices
were capably filled by Tom Barrett, Vice-President;
Dave DeDoncker, Secretary; and Tom Downey,
Treasurer. Progress must be attributed to the willingness of all the Council members to work together for a common goal.
The members of this year's Council know that
their success can be measured only in terms of the
help which was received from God, in the name
of His Son. As each meeting was opened with a
prayer, so that we might be guided in our deliberation, we now thank God, and rededicate our work
in His honor.
