His Excellency, the Most Reverend Ralph L. Hayes,
Bishop of Davenport, has been in this bishopric since 1945.
Ordained in Rome, he first worked as a diocesan priest in
Pittsburgh; in 1933 he became Bishop of Helena, Montana.
He was appointed titular Bishop of Hieropolis, and rector
of North American College in Rome in 1935. He has
served as chaplain, diocesan official, a pastor and a college
president; now His Excellency is serving as President of
the College Board of Control.
