1/2 TIME: HALL OF FAME
Half-time activities included the induction of former athletes and coaches into the St Ambrose
College Athletic Hall of Fame. Present for the
induction were (from left) Cyril Bodensteiner accepting the posthumous award for the late Glen
"Jake"Lawlor ('28); Thomas Otting ('58), a former basketball captain on the 1000 point club;
Mrs. Wm. Bakrow and President Bakrow who
presented the awards; Judge Francis Coyle ('23),
an all around athlete; Donald Morris ('50), a
varsity athlete; Mrs. Coyle; Robert Smiley ('54),
a basketball player; Rev. Msgr. Sebastian Menke
('34), a former football player and, later, president of the college; Thomas Kenney ('60), a first-
string football player; James Dockery accepting
the posthumous award for the late Lawrence
"Moon" Mullins who coached the Bees during
the 40's and early 50's; and Col. Donald Conroy
('44), a basketball player. Those not present for
the ceremony included Dr. John Sunderbruch
('32), a letter winner in both football and track;
Sid Williams ('74), a former basketball player on
the WOO point club; and Joe Schwitters ('59), a
former tennis player. Two other alumni were also
inducted posthumously: Frank Coonan ('18) and
Vic Pahl ('37), both football, basketball, and
baseball letter winners. The Hall of Fame, developed in 1979, honors these men and their former
accomplishments at St Ambrose College.
