SECURITY
More than twenty-five Ambrose students gained valuable experience as
members of the college security force,
better known as the guards.
Some of the basic duties of the
guards include: locking up all buildings,
writing parking tickets, checking lights,
security in South Hall, fire watch duty
as well as working at movies and
dances.
Though they are like most other
Ambrose school employed students,
receiving less than minimum wage, the
guards are on call 24 hours a day, even
during vacations.
St. Ambrose senior Danny Williams
was director of security. Mark Hanf
was captain, Denny Wilkerson was
lieutenant, and Randy Goble served as
corporal.
Father Drake Shafer served as administrator for the guards this year.
The guard force at St. Ambrose started
nearly a decade ago, replacing the inadequate private Per Mar force.
As one guard stated, "It's a real
good experience." And isn't that what
college is all about.
Randy Goble writes out a parking ticket to someone who was
foolish enough to park in the fire lane.
Doug Hutcheson makes sure everything is locked up tight after
hours.
