ASSOCIATION
Working under a new constitution
and a revamped representative system,
the St. Ambrose Student Government
Association (SGA) continued to work
for the students.
With President Joe Adam, and
Vice-President Sam Sipes, the SGA
worked a variety of projects throughout the year. Speakers on U.F.O.s
started the year, Wilma Rudolph came
to St. Ambrose in February, in conjunction with the SGA and the Black
Student Union. Nuclear Power, the
pros and cons, were debated in a spring
SGA event.
Coping with such problems as refrigerators and parking on campus
kept the SGA busy.
Representatives were chosen from
different academic areas, as well as
class groupings, to provide a wider
range of input from a variety of students.
In April, the first off-campus duo
to take over the two top positions
was elected. Ed Cervantes was voted
into the president's slot, while Gerry
Werthman was tabbed as vice-president.
An Oktoberfest, a Springfest, and
a Summerfest were all planned and
carried out by the SGA, trying to
make this year the 'fest' ever.
