MS. LONGSTOCKING DAZZLES EM WITH HER UNENDING CHARM
Pippi Long Stocking, the mischievous young girl we read about in our youth came
to life on the stage here at St. Ambrose in early December. School children came
from all over the Quad-City area for the entertaining performance.
The play was directed by a St. Ambrose theatre major, Mary Gillhouse. Starring
as Pippi was Patti Sheperd, a junior at St. Ambrose. The play told the story of Pippi
moving into a small town as a very independent little girl. She was always clever
enough to avoid being pushed into a society she didn't understand or care to belong
to. She had the help of her sidekick, a 5 foot monkey she calmly called Mr. Neilson.
Thank goodness Pippi's father, a Cannibal King came and rescued her and took her
back to the South Seas where she could resume her normal life.
Mrs. Rosenbloom (Mary Tripolino) finds everything to be shocking, shocking, shocking.
Pippi (Patti Sheperd) and Mr. Neilson (Mark Kuehnle) check to see if their cookies are
done.
Tommy (Jim Turilli) and Annika (Carrie Cope) hope and wish so
very hard for a playmate.
