Description
Homecoming weekend of '49 was certainly
the greatest in the history of the school. The
campus was crowded with returning grads,
parents, and many, many beautiful girls. Following the annual Homecoming Dance on Friday night, the festivities for Saturday got under
way with the parade. The Alumni gathered for
their annual smoker luncheon Saturday noon,
and in the afternoon, the Bee freshmen trounced
Loras in a whale of a football game.
Saturday night, weeks of hard work by unwilling freshmen went up in blazing fury as
the huge bonfire lit up West Davenport and
sparked the pep rally which followed. Later in
the evening the Alumni danced away the hours
at the Blackhawk Hotel while the students and
their dates frolicked in the gym at the annual
Drama Club Dance. The football team made
the week-end really successful by walloping
St. Joe's Sunday afternoon. Following the game
the alumni were entertained at a smorgasbord,
and the students went their ways to put the
finishing touches on a never-to-be-forgotten
Homecoming.
