The Ottumwa Deanery Club was organized in 1948 and was formally recognized at St.
Ambrose during the past school year. The club
included all students from the Ottumwa Deanery area. The activities of this group during
its short life have been numerous, and its plans
for the future indicate that it intends to become an outstanding campus organization.
The primary purpose of the club is twofold.
It was originated to bring all members of the
Deanery into a closer association, and to
actively encourage entrance into St. Ambrose
of students just out of high school, in and
around Ottumwo.
The club offers two valuable services to
its members. It operates a student library and
investigates employment opportunities for
those in need of work.
With two big years behind the Ottumwa
Deanery Club is looking forward to a bright
future. An alumni group is in the formative
stage, as is an Ottumwa Deanery Club at
Marycrest. The present members seem to realize that their club is capable of doing a great
deal of good, and are determined to keep it.
from the fate which has overtaken many of
those campus organizations which have flared
briefly and then died.
Father Kamerick is serving as faculty
advisor.
