Manning Club
"All things come to him who
waits. So it is that after several
years . . . the day arrives when
the Ambrosian becomes a dignified Philosopher. At the same
time the gates of the exclusive
Manning Club are opened . . . The
purpose of the club is to promote good fellowship among its
own members, fluency in debate,
and to boost the College." (1919
yearbook, the Ambrosian).
Many things have changed
since 1919 and the Manning Club
of 1967-68 bears scant resemblance to the 1919 society.
Though composed entirely of
seminarians, the club is not as exclusive as it once was; all the seminarians are automatically members. It now serves as the
Seminary's own Student Council,
treating issues pertaining to the
seminarian's way of life, both in
the seminary community and in
the community of the entire college.
