KSAR Radio & KALA-FM
St. Ambrose's student campus radio station, KSAR,
celebrated its fifth anniversary in broadcasting with a
number of significant improvements. These new advancements were brought about by the sale of advertising pertaining to the college student. This much needed revenue was used to purchase more professional equipment. Two
completely new turntable and tone arm assemblies were acquired from a local radio station.
A second improvement in KSAR's total sound was attributed to a greatly enlarged and enthusiastic staff. By
popular choice, contemporary "top 40" music was featured as well as "easy listening" shows, a sports show, and
several new public affairs programs. KSAR has been
broadcasting Ambrose's away basketball games and now
it has run a feed line to the new FM station, KALA, so that
these broadcasts can be heard throughout the Quint-city
area.
The final improvement came after two years of anticipation. Transmitters were placed in the junior-senior
dorms at Marycrest and broadcasting was inaugurated to
that campus.

The greatest achievement in the
radio field came when the new FM
station was established. KALA's
broadcasting capabilities make it
possible for it to be heard not only
on campus but throughout the
Quint-cities. This brings the day
students closer to campus activities and has immense possibilities
for increasing student involvement.
KALA will, for the most part,
broadcast "serious music." The
lecture series and any musical
programs held on campus will be
