Thirteen new members were admitted to Phi
Eta Sigma this year early in December. In its second year of existence here at St. Ambrose, this
fraternity is designed to recognize outstanding
freshman achievement. Requirements for membership in this national honor society are the
achievement of a scholastic average of 3.5 in at
least one semester of the freshman year and the
demonstration of leadership ability on the part
of the student.
The first order of business was the actual initiation which took place in the Quiet Room of the
student union. After this solemn ceremony which
required the pledging of the initiates to the requirements of the honor society, all members
were invited to a banquet in their honor. The
speaker following the dinner was Fr. Kokjohn,
vice-president of the college and also a now honorary member initiated into the society this year.
