Description
COACH TEUFEL
Carl Teufel, in his second year as St.
Ambrose's track coach, faced one of the
heaviest cinder schedules in its history this
spring, listing nine meets in all. In addition to six hold-over matches from last
year, Teufel booked three new special
matches. Dubuque University was placed
on this year's schedule along with Iowa
State College meet at Cedar Falls and the
Iowa A. A. U. meet at Des Moines. Other
special meets included the Drake Relays,
the Beloit Relays, the Viking Olympics and
the Iowa Conference meet. The Bee cinder team scheduled but three dual meets,
Augustana, Cornell, and Dubuque.
Teufel lost but four men from last year's
squad which was one of St. Ambrose's
most successful track teams. However,
Jack Alderdice returned and replaced the
slack left by the grads. He excelled in
high jumping and filled in the hurdles and
relay. Roy Glendenning, Al Haworth and
Paul Damos handled the sprinting, John
Mulvaney ran the distances, Nick Kerasiotis and Bob Kane pole-vaulted, and Ted
Lapka handled the weights.
