Description

Indianola, Iowa, Nov. 9—Guests at
Simpson's homecoming on a muddy field,
St. Ambrose had little trouble in hanging
up their eighth consecutive win of the
season, 21 to 0.
The St. Ambrose perfect record was
once more threatened, however, in the
waning moments of the game when a
Simpson man intercepted a Bee lateral
and had an open field in front of him but
Bill Loomis nailed him from behind before
he had a chance to get started.
Bill Leithner, Tony Rotunno, and Roy
Glendenning collaborated in scoring the
three tallies. Leithner's came as a result
of his 50 yard drive, going over from the
14 on an end sweep. Rotunno climaxed
an 80 yard concentrated drive in the second period by plunging over from the one.
Glendenning, playing a great game,
whipped around his end from the five to
score the final touchdown of the afternoon.

Dubuque, Iowa, Nov. 24—Five Ambrose
seniors saw their chances for an undefeated, untied, and unscored upon record
blasted in the final game of the season
against Loras. With eight straight wins
to their credit, the Saints had to contend
with Loras' muddy field which proved a
distinct disadvantage to the Bees as the
0-0 score indicates.
Nevertheless, the tie did not hamper
the undefeated and unscored toon portion of the record, which is quite a distinction for any team.
For 60 minutes the two teams slipped"
and sloshed around in the mud and when
the final gun sounded neither team had
penetrated the opponent's 25 yard line.
The only exciting play and signs of a score
came in the first quarter as Ted Lapka received a 40 yard pass on the two yard
line but it was nullified because of offensive holding.
The remainder of the game was spent
exchanging punts, passes, and attempting
to run the ball. Tim Linehan's triple threat
ability kept Loras in the ball game. LEITHNER
