HAYWORTH
Fullback
Davenport, Sept. 2 I.—The St. Ambrose
football team, playing their first game under the former Notre Dame grid great,
Larry "Moon" Mullins, scored their initial
victory of the season by defeating Cornell
of Mt. Vernon, the Bees' sole conqueror
in the last 47 games, 14 to 0, before 4,500
fans.
The Cornell eleven was completely outclassed by the two evenly balanced Bee
teams, and Ambrose's defense was too tight
for the Cornell back star, Gene Tornquist,
who did practically all the ball toting for
the Cornellmen. Cornell had but one scoring threat, coming late in the fourth period.
Both Ambrosian touchdowns came as a
result of Bill Loomis' pitching arm, one to
Bud Lucier in the second quarter, while Ted
Lapka was on the receiving end o"! the
second pass in the third period. ^lick
Kerasiotis, the Little Ail-American gi 3rd,
converted the seventh point on each c ca-
sion.
