Despite its scoreless tie with Loras in the
final game of the season, the St. Ambrose
football squad had one of the most successful, if not the greatest, seasons in its
history on the gridiron. With a set of
fine running backs and a ferocious line to
open huge holes, the Bees emerged as
victors in their first eight keenly contested
tilts with an undefeated, untied and un-
scored upon record. Then fate befell the
Saints at Dubuque in the "pay-off" game
of the season. With an inspired Loras outfit eager to meet St. Ambrose, the Bees
were stunned by the Duhawks impressive
showing and the difficult playing facilities
of Loras' newly constructed "Rock Bowl".
Nevertheless, the determined and hard
working squad established an enviable
record, one to be proud of, and are eager
to continue their successful showing next
year.
