1915 Yearbook
Description
Ambrose Basket Ball. WILLIAM B. SCHMIDT, student coach of the Academic Basket Ball team, has demonstrated his ability as a
successful coach in basket ball. He has been a member of the varsity quintetfor two years and was a valuable man to the team on account of his clever floor work and his basket shooting. He formed a well balanced team out of the available material, and no doubt several of his men will be successful candidates for places on the varsity next year. Schmidt has one more year at the College and will be the mainstay in basket ball in 1916. The basket ball material in the College this year was not of the proper class, for a
representative, and so an academic team was formed. William Schmidt was student coach and Edw. Wehr was captain. The team showed much better form than was expected. They held the Davenport "Y" to a reasonable low score, and in fact won every game on their list, with the exception of the "Y" contests.
