Description

Academic Football
THERE was no Varsity football team at the College last fall. An Academic team was formed for the purpose of developing material for a strong team in 1915. No formal schedule was adopted but several very interesting contests were staged. Considering
the purpose of its organization, it may be said that the Academic Football team was a success. Practically all the men were new to football with the exception of Quarter-back Schmidt. Whelen and McLaughlin at halves did good work, and G. Miller at full demonstrated his ability as a line smasher. Lee and Carpentier were two speedy ends, and Tumpane at center was a load of strength to the line. Jaeger and J. Schmidt
at Tackles were strong on the defense. The back-field men, ends and center displayed real football ability and will bid for places on the Varsity this coming year. Prospects for a winning team this fall are better than ever. Many athletes have announced their intentions of entering the College, and an unusually fine schedule is under way. Later a coach of ability will be secured to develop and
direct the efforts of the team.
