Flashes From the Past
R. Bernard Meyer, a graduate of '13, and a student at the Foreign
Missionary Seminary at Maryknoll, New York, was recently
raised to the order of Deaconship and will soon be elevated to
the priesthood.
Francis Harrison, '12, completed his course at the Law
Department of the Iowa University and is now connected with
the local law firm of Sharon & Higgins.
Rev. James Peters, '12, who was ordained last October, has since been acting
as assistant to Father Murray of Clinton.
Mr. Walter Barron, a graduate of Commercial '11, has been engaged for the
past several years by the First National Bank of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Rev. Thomas C. Donohue, '11, was ordained last May after completing his
course in Theology at the American College, Rome. He is at present a member
of the faculty of his Alma Mater.
James Gaffney graduated from the Commercial Department in 1911, completed his course in law at Creighton University and is now practicing law with
great success in his home town, Williamsburg, Iowa.
Rev. Walter Cullinan, '12, who acted as assistant to Father Murray after his
ordination to the priesthood, has recently been promoted to the pastorship at
Lovilia.
Michael G. McGivern, a former student, and Miss Alice J. Kibbie, graduate
of Mercy Hospital Training School were married Feb. 9, 1916, at Ayrshire, Iowa.
The couple are residing at present on their farm near Marengo.
Benjamin Reidy, '13, is attending the Law Department of Georgetown University.
John Fitzpatrick, a graduate of Academic 1912, is now making a record for
himself as a baseball pitcher. Last season he was one of the leading twirlers in
the Central Association.
