Description

History of Commercial Class
Donald G. Kersteter.
Mr. Kersteter was one of the late comers in 1912, as he arrived
in December, about five months after the rest of the class had entered.
This gave the other boys a handicap and he had to work hard to catch
up. Hard work and "Kerst" are old friends for he not only overtook
us, but soon became one of the leaders of the Class of '14.
James Owens.
In the fall of 1912 the students of St. Ambrose were surprised
to see a native of the jungles of south-western Iowa in their midst.
Desirous of being a book-keeper, he was directed to the commercial
camp. "Jim" has many friends at S. A. C. where he is better known
as "Bull Moose." We shall miss his genial smile and pleasant companionship. May success and happiness attend him in all his busi-
ness enterprises! Charles McGinnis.
"Mac" is an excellent representative of the Commercial Class of
1914. In all the football and baseball games we look in vain to find
"Mac's" name at the bottom of the list. As a bookkeeper he is never
found wanting and his industry promises him a good position in the
future.
Anthony H. Brus.
"Tony" is an industrious boy and if he continues to show his
ability as a bookkeeper and a rapid accountant we look forward to
seeing him President of the Northwest Davenport Savings Bank.
He should have no trouble in getting a position as a bookkeeper and
stenographer. Harry G. Taylor.
"Stumps" Taylor has the distinction of being the smallest boy
in the class of 1914, but his rapid progress in class goes to show the
importance of little things. He should have no trouble in getting
to the front in the commercial world.
Hubert M. Thomann.
Among the names of the class of 1914 is found that of Hubert
M. Thoman, who is sometimes known as "Sleepy." Hubert is a leader
of the class and will, we are sure, be welcomed in any business firm
where ability and efficiency are appreciated.
Joseph O'Shaughnessy.
O'Shaughnessy is Charge d'affaires of the Class of 1914. It was
agreed that no one was better qualified for the office of president than
"Honest Joe." Joe never saw his name in the paper till Huerta made
the O'Shaughs. famous and now he is assuming the airs of a foreign
ambassador. Goodbye, Joe, the Class of '14 wish you success!
