THE LEAGUE OF THE SACRED HEART
THE work done by the League of the Sacred Heart is like deep water—running noiselessly and arriving at its destination without any noticeable deviation from its accustomed course. Although the members of the League do
not come together in monthly meetings/ nevertheless the student body offers
up all the actions of each day to the Sacred Heart, wThile the first Friday of
each month finds every member receiving Holy Communion in reparation for the irreverences offered Our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament of the Altar.
Monthly reports of intentions are given to the promoters who in turn forward them
through the secretary to the main office of the Apostleship of Prayer. The League is
constantly promoting zeal and devotion to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Director . . Rev. Joseph P. Stahl
Secretary . . . Joseph B. Code
THE HOLY NAME SOCIETY
That there is a need of a Holy Name Society in our day, none can deny.
The tendency of the age is to reject or minimize authority and even to speak lightly
of whatever approaches the supernatural. This tendency has manifested itself in many
waj^s but more especially in the disrespect with which many make use of the Holy
Name of Jesus. And it was to fight these evils that the Holy Name Society was
organized.
To maintain and to increase man's faith in the divinity of the Savior is the chief
object of the Society; to promote respect and honor for His name, to means; an organized body of men striving heart and soul to make Jesus the Man-God better known
and better loved—this is the Holy Name Society and its aim.
There are in the United States branches of this world wide union claiming over
five hundred thousand active members, but none are more sincere in their devotion
and zeal toward the Holy Name than the one hundred and seventy "four members at
St. Ambrose.
Director . Rev. J. J. Schoenfelder
President . . . John J. Collins
Vice-President . . Joseph Wagner
Secretary .... Harold Britt
Consultors
Ernest Casey Emmet Murphy
George Bouquot .
