FATHER ADRIAN is not
a good loser—he does
not know what it is to
take a beating. A junior has never been really beaten, for if a
single game is lost the Juniors get a
return game and nine times out of ten
win in the comeback.
Father Adrian has often been
asked why he does not organize an
Academic or College Freshman team
but he always replies that he prefers
coaching the little fellows. He believes the bigger boys would not obey
and obedience is the cornerstone of
his success. He does not smoke himself and says he knows no reason why
the lads on his teams should. Often
he has "canned" stars in the mid-season for smoking, and he will undoubtedly continue to do so when the contingency arises.
There are rumors that Father Adrian intends to have a
heavier team next year and play in the high school circuit. A large number
of eligibles say they will be out if he does, and everyone wishes him well in
the new world he hopes to conquer.
Two years of hard football games without a defeat,—this is the record
Father Adrian's Junior football team has made and hopes to maintain for
twenty times two years. The record may not rival that of Gilmore Dobie,
who coached teams 18 years without a defeat, but it is one that 99 out of
100 college and high school football teams in the middle west would work
day and night to equal.
