look at me and see
all that there is to see;
it is noon.
i am alone and
i am afraid.
i know that banjos ring
from the fingers of 'undignified' men.
what is this music they create?
is it center line,
or something altogether different?
(where is my unlady/candle
to give me warmth and comfort
amidst storm of thoughts and feelings?
my unlady, unlady . . . )
what is an image?
nothing more than statement of fear,
a full confession.
how does one fit into nothing—
or something he knows not what is?
what i find must be truth, must be real;
and maybe fate will deem it happiness—
and if not . . .
