DIVISION OF RELIGION
AND PHILOSOPHY
A true education must provide for the ultimate destiny
of man. It consists in arranging the powers and capacities
of the individual in their proper hierarchical order. Of highest
rank must be the care of the soul.
The Department of Religion provides the guidance
necessary to prepare the student for an active Catholic life.
It attempts to fulfill the aims of Catholic education in providing the student with a religious culture in which to develop.
The Department of Philosophy is designed to fulfill the
earliest purpose of the college, the preparation of men for
living. Special training is offered to ecclesiastical students to
prepare them for the major seminary. Lay students are provided with a Thomistic understanding of man and men's
destiny.
