1963 Yearbook
Description
What does a student expect from
a professor? Understanding and
assistance, for these characteristics
are necessary to acquire the inspiration for learning.
Our Reverend Cletus P. Madsen
has spent his priestly life assisting
Ambrosians in their quest for
knowledge. He has always displayed
understanding and willingness, the
measure of the true scholar. He
serves the college as chairman of
the Fine Arts Division and as student chaplain. In both capacities he
has given himself to furthering the
spiritual and intellectual life of the
students.
Father Madsen is community
minded. He started the Davenport
Diocesan High School Music Festival, co-founded the Tri-City Oratorio
Society, and founded the Iowa
Chapter of the National Catholic
Music Educators Association. He
served as national president of
NCMEA from 1954 to 1958. He has
conducted summer workshops at
Loras College, Webster College and
the Catholic University.
The OAKS recognizes Father
Madsen for his thirty years of
service to the college and to the
world community.
It is with pride and with gratitude
that the 1963 OAKS is dedicated
to him.
