Class of 1965
Webster's Collegiate Dictionary
tells us that a senior student is one
"belonging to the final year of
courses in American colleges and
universities."
But what makes a senior? Is it
mere time? What distinguishes the
senior from the freshman?
The maturation which coincides
with the four years one spends in
college should bring out two predominant qualities: firstly, the acceptance of responsibility, and
secondly, leadership.
These factors are the measuring
sticks of a class. These are the standards which we have applied to the
Class of '65.
The 79th year of St. Ambrose College marked the entrance of the largest freshman class in the history
of the school. In the intervening
time, the Class of '65 has functioned
as a closely knit group of men. The
wide and varied talents and ambitions of these men have combined to
cast a large shadow on our yardsticks
of responsibility and leadership.
One of the markings of a liberal
arts college is the complete and
rounded education of the whole
man. This class history is to show
that this education of the whole man
extends beyond the walls of the
classroom, to every aspect of life,
on and off the campus. We will be
attempting to show how the Class
of '65 has used its four years to add
its talents to this goal and complete
its total educational effect.
Campus politics has not been the
least of their interests by any means.
