Description
Parents' Organization Supports Growth of St. Ambrose
PARENTS' ORGANIZATION
The Parents' Organization was
established at St. Ambrose College
in 1957. The idea was a natural one
conceived by the parents themselves.
Activities of the Parents' Organization are coordinated by the
Parents' Council which meets on
the campus five times each year.
During the Fall and Spring,
parents came to the campus to spend
the weekend with their sons. Many
enjoyed the activities of the NFCCS
Fall Fair and the Spring musical
"Kiss Me Kate", in addition to good
food and fellowship while visiting
with their son's friends and other
parents. Many assisted in preparations for the Fair and also with
other events during the year.
As a result of the 1964 Parents'
Fund Drive, more than $8,200.00
was invested in the Development
Program of the College. Mr. and
Mrs. Vincent J. Neu of Bettendorf
served as General Co-Chairmen of
the drive and were assisted by an
army of fellow parents across the
country. Since the first drive for
funds in 1958, the participation of
St. Ambrose parents has been among
the highest in the country.
Families and friends enjoying the Sunday brunch during the Fall Parents' Weekend.
Thou wert our parent, the nurse of our souls,
We were moulded to manhood by thee,
Till freighted with treasure, thoughts, friendships and hopes,
Thou didst launch us on destiny's sea.
