Description
Community Centers Attention on Commencement
A considerable number of Ambrose's graduates remain in the area. This yearly attracts Quint-City industrial leaders to the campus for
both social and formal activities. Last year's commencement address was delivered by William A. Hewitt, chairman of the board for John
Deere & Company, Moline, Illinois. He challenged the 1964 graduates to become leaders. St. Ambrose, cooperating with the community,
has, and is, continually trying to meet this challenge.
While St. Ambrose is an integral part of
the Quint-City community, it is, beyond
that, a community in itself. Not a community isolated and self-subsisting, but
rather one closely united with the larger
community of men. St. Ambrose centers
its community life around the Christ the
King Chapel in order to instill not only
an academic outlook, but also a Christian
spirit in the future leaders of the community of men.
