Description
ST. AMBROSE . . . . . . . . . 19
WESTERN ILL. [Macomb] 32
In opening the 1953 season, Coach
Frank Brogger displayed one of the
finest passers in college football—freshman quarterback Jack Abbott. However, Abbott's services were in vain, as
Macomb slapped the hosts, 32-19.
Several fumbles by both teams
stopped offensive drives, as is the custom in a season's opener, but the inability of the pass receivers to handle
the accurate heaves of Abbott spelled
defeat for the Locust street crew.
Halfback Bob Durnin tallied all the
Bee points, displaying some of the best
running of the year.
