Title

St. James Episcopal Church, Easter, 1918, Oskaloosa, Iowa; Mahaska County

Description

Religion has always played a very important role in Mahaska County, Iowa. One of the credits to the county has been its people's tolerance for others to worship freely without fear. This is a picture of the inside of the St. James Episcopal Church on Easter Day, 1918, at which point World War I was taking place. The church was and still is located on the corner of South 3rd Street and 1st Avenue East in the downtown of Oskaloosa.
