Contour tillage, terraces, and grassed waterways have proved highly valuable in checking erosion and keeping the maximum amount of moisture in the soil where it can be utilized by growing crops to increase production. This booklet gives specific information on how to lay out contour lines, and to farm along them; how to establish grassed waterways to carry necessary run-off without erosion damage; and how to build permanent, broadbase terraces with ordinary farm plows.
