Title
Old Main, 1890
Description
A collapsed wall after the first building fire at Old Main in December 1900. A large amount of rubble is at the base of the large open space in the wall. Smoke is still present inside the burned out building wing.
Old Main was constructed between 1864-1868, and served as the main college building for Iowa State. It housed classrooms, the library, chapel, museums, dining halls, and was the residence for faculty and students. It burned in 1900, and the remaining parts of the building were completely destroyed by a second fire in 1902.
