Walking dresses

Five walking dresses all with long sleeves, jewel necklines, and full skirts. The young woman wears a loose jacket with long sleeves, a layered walking skirt where the top layer is pulled back with vertical belts to reveal the pleated underlayer, and a flower trimmed hat. The 2nd woman has a simpler dress with a belted waistline, bow trim on the floor length skirt, and a lace cap. The 3rd young woman wears a flower trimmed Eugenie hat; a striped dress with contrasting trim around the armscyes, waistline, cuffs, and skirt edges; and a complex walking skirt with multiple layers of differing shapes and sizes, center front buttons, a large bow, and a pleated hemline. The 4th woman has a simple dress with elaborate braid and tassel trim extending from the neckline and hips to the lower portion of the floor length skirt. The 5th woman has a loose jacket with complex sleeves over a dress with a layered, floor length skirt and a hat with lace and ribbon trim. (published for Godey's Fashions)
