Title
Old Main fire 1901
Description
Old Main from the front showing the damage to the north side of the building after the first fire of December 1900. The Hub building located north of Old Main is also in the view. People are gathered in three different groups close to the building. A wagon sits on the lawn in front of the building.
Old Main was constructed between 1864-1868, and served as the main college building for Iowa State. It housed classrooms, the library, chapel, museums, dining halls, and was the residence for faculty and students. It burned in 1900, and the remaining parts of the building were completely destroyed by a second fire in 1902.
