Description
Children's Hospital was later renamed the Steindler Building. The University Hospital operated the Perkins School for children who were long-term patients, beginning in fall 1916. It was named for the 1915 Perkins Act, which allowed for treatment of poor children at state expense, and brought in much needed numbers of patients for the teaching hospital.
