Up a country lane, radio program excerpts, 1950
Description
On May 15, 1950, Evelyn Birkby debuted her radio program, "Up a country lane," (later re-named "Down a country lane") on radio station KMA in Shenandoah, Iowa. Adapted from her weekly local newspaper column with the same title, the program featured a similar blend of household tips, recipes, and stories about rural life in Iowa. The program was broadcast until 1952. Birkby returned to radio several years later for a syndicated program called "Kitchen Klatter".
