Description

The Ambrosian
9. Rump and Pieper have a little extemporaneous argument on the value of "Home
Rule". The result was a compromise, Rump rules while Pieper does all the
talking.
10. All of us who are able, patronize the candy store during the day. Reason, light
lunches in the refectory.
11. K. E. club holds an important meeting. T. Lew in high spirits. Must be
"dues" night for the secretary.
12. Free Day on Columbus. All our old friends come in handy. Arpas have important meeting.
13. Bad day for club members. Those who aren't "sick" envy those more lucky with
glib tongues.
14. Football going strong, or rather the spirit is strong but the bones are weak.
15. Wisconsin Normal disorganizes the Varsity: 9 to 7. Greene gets hurt. Tough
luck for the Shamrocks tomorrow.
16. "Fair and Warmer" (at the Grand). Real weather is awful.
17. We take a peek at Sterck's diary. It says: "Where does all the rain come
from?" We don't know, Leo.
18. Fr. Neuzil lectures on "Politeness"—Love's Labour Lost.
19. Another candidate for the Varsity. Frank Blanche comes out in suit and tells
us that he is a wonderful end.
20. Free Day. Football practice again. The elect see the Columbia.
21. "Fat" Watters spends a busy afternoon on the trail of his tent, excuse us, his
night-shirt. No results as yet.
22. Varsity tramps on Quincy. Loui Nieters sees all the "old hum town boys".
23. Our old friend Bacon was the center of attraction this afternoon on the gridiron.
24. Dr. Yancey congratulates McDonough on his musical ear. However mean as it
appears we don't sing Spanish.
25. K. E. club holds meeting. More casualties.
26. The orchestra does its best to make music. We appreciate their good intentions.
27. Eric Crowley selects his cast for his New Opera. Much consternation in the
ranks as McDonough and "Luke Dehner" fight for the leading role.
28. Varsity leaves for Kirksville.
"With a tear in my eye,
While rain fell out of the sky,
I stood on the porch to see
The varsity leave—but me."
(Submitted by Leo Sterck, and dedicated to "Fat" Watters.)
29. Ignatius Peiffer pays his initiation fee into the Columbia. Lingard drapes the
refectory floor with a dozen pies—more or less.
30. Some of the boarders leave for home—to remain indefinitely.
31. Maloney and Mitchell agree to disagree. Those interested in the welfare of the
Newlyweds will grieve to hear of this catastrophe.
