The Ambrosian
page 6 LA PSYCHOSOMNA AND BUNKO
SOCIETY
The "Morfeuns"
The "Morfeuns", followers of
Morpheus, held ther first meeting
on the first day of school. They
attempt to hold daily meetings,
but are not always successful.
The club enjoys a splendid enrollment and new candidates are
constantly being added. They
report a very successful year to
date.
CHARMING PROGRAM
RENDERED
"Dizzy Dugan" Fitzpatrick
gave an interesting recital at his
studio on North Second Floor
last Tuesday evening. The program consisted of a number of
poems which the eminent artist
had composed. After the program a social hour was enjoyed,
and at a late hour the guests retired hungry.
GYM TEA
A number of S. A. C. Students
enjoyed a gymnasium tea at Augustana College on the evening
of Jan. 28th. Did they not?
Yea! They did not! It was a
most enthusiastic occasion (for
Augie followers). Mr. and Mrs.
Augustana took the parts of host
and hostess. The principal soloist of the evening sang that very
pathetic little ballad entitled,
"Ay Yust Ban Back From Min-
apolis". The S. A. delegation
forgot to show their appreciation
of the "swell" time Augie had.

*' Big B'oy'' Brophy presents
an equally strong claim to the
other end. He is placed on the
right side of the line, rather than
the left, because he is always
right there at the table and never is left on anything. By his
fierce onslaughts he has brought
many a meal to an end, thus
showing his selection is no mistake.
Passing on to the backfield, a
wealth of material presents itself, but a wealth of material
will be necessary to supply the
artists picked for these four positions. "Jake" Schoenfelder is
an easy winner at quarterback.
As a table general he has no superior. Unlike most quarterbacks he wastes no time barking
useless signals, but employs all
his energy in directing food to
his plate. His selection for this
important position is only a just
recognition of his capacity.
Left half-back is a difficult position but not too difficult for
'' Shorty'' Wagner. Indeed nothing in the eating line is difficult
for him. His speed is marvelous.
Indeed he is often half (way)
back for supper before the average eater has finished dinner.
He can eat his half, and the other fellow's too, with ease.
Frank "Kell" Kelley is the
unanimous selection for right
half-back. "Kell" first attracted attention as a back on account of his skill in sending the
bread plate back to the kitchen.
Added to this he has ability to
do anything from plunging into
the heaviest line of grub ever
assembled, to getting around the
end of a piece of pie. In fact
his eating all-around ability has
induced Mr. Blank to award him
the captaincy of the eleven, and
justly so, for Frank eats supremely.
The selection of "Tubby"
Malloy as full-back completes
the team. Take a look at his
back and tell us where we could
get a fuller one. "Tubby" can
smash through any sized ration
and emerge full to the neck. By
choosing him. both he and the
position of full-back will be well
filled.
Signed,
Mr. Walter Blank,
World's foremost eating critic.
(Continued from Page 5)
for the sake of eating Nichols
pie, gave up his chance to eat
Ail-Americans.
To prove the old saying that
"it never rains but it pours",
there followed on the heels of the
Nichols disaster the account of
an apple bobbing contest held by
the sporting element of Lovilla,
Iowa, to observe Hallowe'en Day.
Now apple bobbing contests are
all right in themselves but when
in this one the great Tubby
Malloy bobbed up as champion
apple tamer things immediately
became all wrong for the Eating
team. Having thus lost their
great back, about the only thing
that is now full in the vicinity
of Mr. Blank's men are the full
plates which must remain filled
for the want of a back fully capable of emptying them.
But the unkindest cut of all
was the one that separated '' Big
Boy" Brophy from the eleven.
Long Grove, when not busy entertaining bank robbers, sometimes amuses itself with whistling contests. To make the
contests more exciting, the
mouths of the whistlers are filled
with crackers. The judges then
determine which one has the
fastest whistling-crackers. Brophy, having heard of a Whistler
who became famous by writing
his name under some pictures or
something, decided to become a
whistler too. But you can't eat
and whistle at the same time, so
now the would be Whistler is
whistling for his job as an Eater.
